PENGARUH BERMAIN TERAPEUTIK TERHADAP TINGKAT KECEMASAN
AKIBAT PEMBERIAN INJEKSI OBAT IV (BOLUS) PADA ANAK USIA PRASEKOLAH
DI RUANG ANAK RUMAH SAKIT UMUM DAERAH CIBABAT 2014

Introduction : Invasive procedures such as administration of IV drug injection (bolus) is a procedure that is often given to children during care and the child’s reaction is crying, uncooperative toward nurses. Effective media in reducing anxiety when the child due to giving an invasive procedure is therapeutic play.

This study pusposed to determine the effect of differences in therapeutic play coloring, clay and control the anxiety level ofpreschool children due to IV drug injections (bolus).

Method : Using quasy experimental design approach post test only with control group. Sampling with consecutive sampling technique, the number of respondents 16 children coloring, clay and 16 children 16 children as controls. Data collected March – April 2014. Statistical test used is One Way ANOVA.

Results : The results showed that the degree of anxiety among the three groups had significant statistical difference after interventions (p < 0,001). Moreover, the level of anxiety between the group coloring and control had a significant difference (p= 0,018), between the group clay and control (p = 0,000), and between the group coloring and clay (p = 0,028).

Conclusions : Therapeutic play with clay can be more effective in reducing anxiety compared to the coloring activities. This method can be used as an effective non-pharmaceutical method for reducing childrens’ anxiety during giving an invasive procedure.
